Frequently Asked Questions
Is the stargazing tent private?
The Bedouin tent at the camp is shared with other visitors, but your transport, your guide and your group remain completely private. A fully private tent can be arranged on request for an extra charge.
What will I see through the telescope?
Depending on the season you can see the moon’s craters in detail, Jupiter and its moons, Saturn’s rings, the Orion Nebula and star clusters. The Sinai desert has almost no light pollution, so the naked-eye Milky Way view alone is spectacular.
What time does the tour start?
Departures are after sunset, usually between 7:00 PM and 9:00 PM depending on the season. Your exact pick-up time is confirmed the day before.
Is it cold in the desert at night?
Yes temperatures drop sharply after dark, even in summer. We strongly recommend a jacket or fleece, especially between November and March.
Is food included?
Traditional Bedouin bread and tea are included. A full dinner is not included, but can be added if you book the Private Bedouin Dinner tour instead.
Can children join the stargazing tour?
Yes, it is a favourite with families. Children aged 4 to 12 pay $75 and under 4s come free.
