Dahab Overday & Blue Hole Snorkelling
Sinai is the gateway from Africa to Asia and the dividing line between seas a harsh land of valleys and mountains, mostly arid except for the occasional spring and oasis. To contrast that barren landscape, the coastline holds some of the world’s most colourful reefs. We head to the Dahab coastline to swim and snorkel the Blue Hole, a vertical cavity rich with sponges, coral formations and marine life. Dahab means gold, named for the deep yellow tones of its sand. A mini jeep safari at Wadi Gunai follows, and the afternoon is free to wander this quaint town with its shops, restaurants and small hotels.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Blue Hole dangerous?
The Blue Hole is a world-class snorkelling site and is perfectly safe when snorkelled from the shallow rim where the reef is rich and the water is calm. The deep technical dive through the arch is only for certified technical divers and is not part of this tour.
How long is the drive from Sharm El Sheikh to Dahab?
Roughly 1.5 hours each way, depending on your hotel. The full day runs about 8 to 10 hours including stops.
Can I scuba dive instead of snorkelling?
This itinerary is a snorkelling trip, but introductory dives can often be arranged locally in Dahab at your own cost. Ask us in advance and we will organise it.
Is lunch included?
Yes, a set-menu lunch is included along with protectorate entrance fees, the jeep safari and all snorkelling stops.
Is Dahab suitable for a relaxed day out?
Very much so. Dahab has a laid-back, bohemian feel quite different from Sharm a seafront promenade of cafes, Bedouin jewellery shops and small restaurants where you can wander freely in the afternoon.
What is the jeep safari like?
A short off-road 4×4 ride through Wadi Gunai, a desert valley just outside Dahab, with stops for photos and a taste of Bedouin desert life.
